New Legacy Lab’s Sliding Scale

New Legacy Lab offers a Sliding Scale for our program offerings.* Specifically because New Legacy Lab is a community for individuals who identify as having access to wealth, we have created a sliding scale for our programs that diverges from more common sliding scale models, such as Alex’s Cunningfolks “The Green Bottle” and that builds off of Resource Generations’ Breakdown of Class Characteristics and Income Brackets, primarily focusing on folks within the “Managerial/Upper Class” to “Owning/Ruling-Class.”
Additionally, we ask that participants consider the full access to wealth in determining their Sliding Scale cost, including:
Inherited Wealth (i.e. current access, future access, and gifts)
Personal Assets and Investments (i.e. checking, savings, investments, and assets)
Annual Earned Income
At New Legacy Lab, we embrace transparency about money and our access to wealth, and practice naming numbers. We are about to do that with the Sliding Scale! Seeing and associating with these numbers may feel uncomfortable, but we invite you to feel the discomfort, explore where it may be coming from, and try to stay engaged.
With that acknowledgement, we recommend use of our Sliding Scale at the following ranges:
If you have access to:
Less than $500,000: Pay at Quadrant 1
$500,000 - $1.5 Million: Pay at Quadrant 2
$1.5 Million - $5 Million: Pay at Quadrant 3
More than $5 Million: Pay at Quadrant 4

For example, New Legacy Lab’s Giving Plan Cohort Experience is offered at a sliding scale of $1,000 - $3,500. In this case, the suggested cost for participation by access amount would look like:
Less than $500,000: $1,000
$500,000 - $1.5 Million: $1,750
$1.5 Million - $5 Million: $2,500
More than $5 Million: $3,500
The suggested Sliding Scale costs will be provided whenever possible to help participants determine the appropriate payment based on their access to wealth. Please reach out to Hilary if you need assistance determining the right cost for you.
Additionally, if you are able to pay at a higher cost than suggested in this Sliding Scale model, we encourage you to do so. This allows New Legacy Lab to offer programs to those with lower levels of access, to re-distribute more resources our organizational and organizer partners, and to provide low-cost and free programs to the broader community.
*New Legacy Lab’s choice to use a Sliding Scale is inspired by our values of:
Accountability by promoting self-reflection on our individual access to resources
Authenticity by inviting participants to show up in their fullness in this shared space, and
Solidarity by ensuring accessible participation in our programs across a range of access to wealth
