Giving Plan Cohort Experience

cohort hands.avif
New Legacy Lab’s signature Giving Plan Cohort experience is an intergenerational, social justice-oriented learning space for folks with access to wealth:
  • Critically explore our and our families’ relationships to money and giving

  • Create values-aligned, actionable and courageous giving plans

  • Form connection, community, and accountability across generations for this life-giving work

  • Learn tools and strategies for becoming a generative donor for the long-term

What is a Giving Plan?

A Giving Plan is time-bound roadmap to determine where, how much, and how you want to give and mobilize the resources (both financial and non-financial) available to you, to shape and co-create the world you believe need to exist.

A Giving Plan represents your current best thinking on how to create this world with the resources available to you. It can take on many forms - such as a document, a spreadsheet, a graphic, or collection of thoughts, and is most effective when created a format that supports accountability and clarity.

At the end of the Giving Plan Cohort Experiences, all participants will have a 1-year values-driven Giving Plan AND personal goals for money journey, relationship building and community engagement, and sharing of non-financial resources (i.e. time, skills connections, space, etc.).

What's included in the Cohort Experience?

Group Learning Sessions
Grounding Materials
Access to New Legacy Lab's Social Justice Giving Plan Guide
One-on-One Thought Partnership
Community and Accountability

The Giving Plan Cohort meets for a total of seven 2-3 hour sessions over 3-4 months. The sessions are scheduled for every 2-3 weeks, typically on a weekday evening. There is at least one site-visit included within the sessions. Participants are expected to attend all sessions.

There us also a six-month check-in with the cohort to support participants implementation of their giving plan and move through stuck points on their money journey.

Cohort participants receive an engaging offering of multi-media pre and post-session materials to complement and enhance the group learning sessions. Participants are expected to engage with grounding materials for each session.

New Legacy Lab's *exclusive* Social Justice Giving Plan Guide is a simple step-by-step-guide that supports Cohort Participants in determining where, how much and how to give and mobilize financial and non-financial over the next 12 months. In the cohort, we will work both individually and as a group through the different sections of the guide, moving through stuck points together and celebrating our accomplishments.

Each participant will receive one one-on-one thought partnership session with New Legacy Lab's founder, Hilary Pollan, to work through specific questions for their giving plan and money journey. Hilary will offer connections to her robust networks of organizations, organizers, creatives, and values-aligned professional advisors.

There are approximately 6-10 individuals with access to wealth in a cohort. In this safe and courageous space for peer learning-and sharing, we will foster supportive, loving, and accountable relationships among participants to support their giving and money journeys in the short and long-term. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in an Accountability Buddies process to provide on-going mutual support during the cohort.

Meet the Co-Facilitators

Hilary and Colby are passionate about creating a world with an equitable distribution of resources. They have been co-facilitating wealth re-distribution and money journey learning communities together since 2022. They are both actively on their own money journeys as individuals with access to wealth, and weave their learnings and experiences into their New Legacy Lab facilitation.
